Maren Morris was just named the Female Artist of the Year at the 2020 ACM Awards! Maren shared the Female Artist of the Year category with Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves and Carrie Underwood.
“This is so weird, talking to no one, but I have so many people to thank,” Maren said after taking her trophy. “I’m going to try and make it short. But this is an award I never thought I would get to win, so thank you to the voters. Thank you to my beautiful husband, and my new baby boy, Hayes, who is definitely asleep right now, I hope.
“Oh my God, I have to pee,” she continued with a laugh. “Thank you so much. I’m never going to forget this. Thank you to Sony, thank you to my team … Thank you country music, and vote!”
Maren recently opened up about her battle with post-partum depression, six months after giving birth to Hayes.
“I’m kind of coming through the tunnel now. I feel back to normal,” Maren told CBS This Morning. “Fortunately, I was able to do phone therapy during the pandemic. And [I have] people around me that love me that are like, ‘Hey, if you’re drowning right now, there’s help.’”
“You’re trying to become a new mother and good parent and do everything right, and you just feel like you suck at every level.” she added. “And then the one thing I’ve always felt like I have a handle on is my music, and to not be able to tour and have to furlough my band and crew, it was just a lot.”
Maren also won an ACM Award for Music Event of the Year, for her part in Miranda’s “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.” She was also nominated for Album of the Year, for GIRL, with that award going to Luke Combs, for his recent What You See Is What You Get record.
