As promised, Trisha Yearwood delivered one of the most emotional performances of the night, when she sang her song, “I’ll Carry You Home,” in honor of those who have passed away. Included in the lengthy list of artists she honored were Charlie Daniels, Joe Diffie, John Prine, Busbee, Kenny Rogers, Earl Thomas Conley, and radio great Bob Kingsley.

“I’ll Carry You Home” is from Trisha’s most recent album. Every Girl, which was released in 2019. The song was written by Gordie Sampson, Troy Verges and Caitlyn Smith.
The ACM Awards were held only two months ahead of the CMA Awards, which will mark the first time her husband, Garth Brooks, has chosen not to include himself in the list of nominees for Entertainer of the Year, after winning the trophy for the seventh time in 2019. Although she has stayed mostly quiet about his decision, the 55-year-old praised her husband for the shows he puts on.
“I’ve never seen anybody put on a show like Garth Brooks,” Trisha boasted to ABC Audio. “And that’s coming from someone who is a wife, but also a fan and a fellow artist who has been on those shows and seen those tours.”
Trisha revealed earlier this year that she is working on a new cookbook, tentatively scheduled for a 2021 release.
“I’ve just started working on cookbook number four,” said Trisha via Facebook, during one of her weekly T’s Coffee Talk series. “Did I just make an announcement? I don’t know if I did or not, but that’ll hopefully be coming out next year. And it’s been really fun. I’ve missed doing it. Writing the books is always kind of cathartic for me. It started with the very first one that my mom and my sister [Beth] and I wrote, after my dad passed. It was a way for us to be together, and it was a way for us to really honor him, because he was a great cook.
“And then we wrote that second book together,” she continued. “And then the third book, Beth and I did, and that became a tribute to both of our parents. And so, I’m really excited. You’re not going to see any surprises. I figured out that what we do is comfort food, and it’s not food that you should probably eat every day, but if you’re going to indulge, here’s how to do it, and so that’s what we’re going with. I’m excited; I’m having a really good time.”
