Miranda Lambert performed her recent No. 1 hit, “Bluebird,” at the iconic Bluebird Cafe, as part of the 2020 ACM Awards. Miranda was joined by the song’s co-writers, Natalie Hemby and Luke Dick, for the acoustic performance.
“Bluebird” became Miranda’s first song to hit No. 1 at Billboard in eight years — a bright spot in an otherwise daunting year.
“2020 hasn’t offered a whole lot to celebrate, especially for musicians,” Miranda shared on social media after taking the song to the chop of the charts. “But I am celebrating this week. I’m celebrating happiness and the feeling of artistic freedom in a time where we all feel a little caged. I’m celebrating country music and all the joy it has brought to my life.
“I’m celebrating ALL the fans, the writers, the musicians, the crews, and bands, radio and streaming services, venues big and small for allowing me to have the most wonderful career for the last 17 years,” she continued. “‘Bluebird’ is officially a number one song. It’s been eight years since I had a number 1 on the Billboard charts and six years on Mediabase. I have spent my life doing what I love and I feel more blessed and humbled than ever to have this song of hope resonate with you all.”
Miranda extended her winning streak with her 35th ACM Award win, this time for Musical Event of the Year, for “Fooled Around and Fell in Love.” Miranda sang the cover song with all of her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars tour mates. The Texan is still the most-award artist in the history of the ACM Awards, a record she first set in 2018.
