2023 ACM Awards: Lainey Wilson Is ‘So Honored’ To Have Multiple Nominations

Lainey Wilson is the second most-nominated artist, and the most-nominated female artist, heading into the upcoming 2023 ACM Awards. The Louisiana native earned six nods, only one less than HARDY‘s seven, including Song of the Year, Visual Media of the Year and Music Event of the Year, categories the two hitmakers share for their “wait in the truck”  duet.

Wilson is also nominated for Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (for Bell Bottom Country) and Song of the Year, for her own “Heart Like A Truck” single.

“I am so honored to be nominated among some of the best in the business. A few years ago, I wouldn’t even have been able to dream of a day like this,” Wilson reflects. “Thank you to the Academy of Country Music for believing in me and my work, this is an absolute honor.”

Wilson also shared her thoughts on the six nominations on social media, soon after the nominations were announced.

“Woke up this morning to this and y’all…this never gets old,” Wilson wrote. “I am so proud to be in these categories alongside some of my favorite artists/friends, especially my buddy [HARDY] …thank you for letting me be a part of the incredible song that is “wait in the truck. Let’s go!”

The ACM Awards nominations come shortly after Wilson won two trophies at the  CMT Music Awards. Wilson won the CMT Music Award for Female Video of the Year, for “Heart Like A Truck.” She also joined HARDY in winning Collaborative Video of the Year, also for “wait in the truck.”

Wilson’s successes seem sweeter to her because they didn’t come quickly. The 30-year-old was in Nashville for seven years before she got a record deal, which occurred one year before her record deal. Her slow climb in country music is something she proudly shares with others.

“I’m proud of how long I’ve been working at this,” Wilson told iHeartRadio. “Here I am 12 years later, and I’ve only gotten to this point. I want people to know that I didn’t just move to Nashville and it all of a sudden just happened. I want people to know that I have busted my tail and I deserve to be here. And if I get up there and say, ‘I’ve been in Nashville for 20 years,’ that should make people feel like, ‘Wow, this woman actually has something to say. She’s lived life.’ And I’m proud of that. So, I dare somebody to try to tell me that again. You’re living way behind times, brother. You better get with it.”

Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton will host the ACM Awards ceremony. The 2023 ACM Awards will take place on Thursday, May 11 at 8:00 PM ET, streaming live on Amazon Prime Video, from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
