Kane Brown and his wife, Katelyn Brown, won the CMT Music Award for Video of the Year! The two won for their collaboration on “Thank God,” ending Carrie Underwood‘s four-year run as the Video of the Year winner.
“This is all so new to me,” Katleyn said. “A year ago, I never in my life would ever think that this was going to happen. I just want to say thank you so much to my amazing husband. I love you. This is so special that we get to share this together, every night. I love you so much.”
“I just want to say thank you to the fans that voted,” Brown added. “I want to say thank you to Sony and my awesome manager, Martha,” Brown said, also praising the video director, Alex Alvga, who moved from Barcelona, Spain to direct videos. “Thank you, CMT.”
Kane, who hosted the ceremony alongside Kelsea Ballerini, included “Thank God” on his 2022 Different Man album. The couple wed in 2018, but never felt the time was right to sing together, until “Thank God” came along.
“It’s so different than before. We didn’t have kids. I was, like, ‘How cool for our daughters to one day listen to mom and dad?” Katelyn said to CBS.
The “Thank God” video was filmed over two days in Hawaii, giving the Browns a little tropical getaway in the process.
“That was an idea that Kane and Katelyn had,” Alvga, who has shot other videos for Kane, previously told Billboard. “They wanted tropical, beach vibes for the video. They have a beautiful family with two kids, and are so young and amazing together. When you see them and spend time with them backstage, you can see that connection. I felt like the best way to do this to show them just having fun and letting them be them.”
