2024 ACM Awards: Jelly Roll Performs New Song, ‘Liar’ [WATCH]

Jelly Roll debuted a brand-new song on the ACM Awards. The Nashville native performed “Liar,” a song from a forthcoming new album.

Nominated for a total of four ACM Awards ahead of the ceremony, Jelly Roll hinted that he would be debuting a new song during the ceremony, one year after his performance of “Save Me” with Lainey Wilson, on the same stage changed, quite literally, everything for him.

“I don’t want to get emotional talking about this, but ‘Save Me,’ me and Lainey debuted it here last year. It went on to be a No. 1 record. It’s a triple platinum, I mean, it’s huge. [It] changed my life in every way,” Jelly Roll told Country Now. “It was a big part of the Whitsitt Chapel era of that album and then we kind of get to debut another new song here. So it’s cool. It feels like it’s turning into, I hope, a cycle. Maybe I debut a song every ACM.”

“Liar” is one of several new tracks that Jelly Roll is eager to share with the world, even if he doesn’t know exactly how he is going to do that, at least not yet.

“I’ve got a lot of songs, but I’m not sure how I’m going to release, so I’m still figuring it out,” Jelly Roll shared. “I’m like a kid that’s got a bunch of candy and don’t know where to start.”

Jelly Roll’s music career is already established, but he has his sights set on another creative outlet: television.

“What my dream is, is to get into scripted television,” Jelly Roll said on Audacy’s K-FROG. “I think that’d be cool, if we told our story in like a 10-part series. That’s what I’m into. I’m always attracted to what I’m a fan of. We would go home at night and pick shows, anything from The Rookie on ABC to The Mayor of Kingstown, but we have so many rotating shows that we’re always watching a series.”

“I love people, I love hearing stories,” he added. “It inspires me and encourages me… I know what the impact I have on people is.”

Jelly Roll is nominated for a total of four ACM Awards, including the night’s highest honor, Entertainer of the Year, an especially impressive feat since this is his first year as a nominee.

“Last year I was here, barely,” Jelly Roll said. “I had no nominations. So it’s really, really cool. I think it’s also perspective…it’s my first time being nominated for an ACM, ever. So I think it also reminds people of just how relatively new I still am to the scene.”

Jelly Roll will embark on his Beautifully Broken Tour in August, with Warren Zeiders and Alexandra Kay serving as his opening acts. He also has a song in the upcoming Twisters movie, out on July 19. Find all of Jelly Roll’s music and tour dates at JellyRoll615.com.
