2024 ACM Awards: Lainey Wilson Performs ‘God Blessed Texas’ and ‘Hang Tight Honey’ [WATCH]

Lainey Wilson kicked off the 2024 ACM Awards with an energetic performance of “God Blessed Texas.” The song, originally recorded by Ricochet, was a nod to the ACM Awards being held, for the second year in a row, in Frisco, Texas.

Wilson followed that performance with her brand-new single, “Hang Tight Honey,” the debut single from her forthcoming third studio album, Whirlwind, out on August 23.

“The word that I keep using to describe what these past few years have been like is ‘whirlwind,’” Wilson said, explaining the title behind her new record. “It has been a crazy ride. I feel like, I’ve been in Nashville for 13 years, and the last three — the ten before that prepared me for the last three, I guess you could say. It’s fast-paced, it keeps you on your toes, but it’s fun.”

Wilson headed into the ACM Awards with five nominations, including one for the night’s highest honor, Entertainer of the Year.

“Just to be nominated, it means that we have been busting our tail,” Wilson told Country Now. “I just think of all the blood, sweat and tears and everything that has gone into this. I’ve been in Nashville for 13 years and even though it seems like the last year has been the pinnacle for me, there’s still a lot of time and sacrifices that you have to make, just like anything in life.”

The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year also joins Urban on his new song, “Go Home W U.”

“Keith has been someone in the industry I’ve taken notes from for a while now,” Wilson said when the song was released. “From watching him at CMA Fest every year growing up to hearing the way he treats people up and down music row, he has taught me a lot. He’s a genuine supporter of mine and I am honored I get to continue to learn from one of the best. Getting to do a song with Keith is a notch on my belt I am very proud of.”

The Louisiana native will not only be on the road this summer, while working on new music, but she is also opening her own Bell Bottoms Up Bar in downtown Nashville.

“I’ve always wanted to create a destination for all my fans to visit and create new memories at, in the heart of country music city,” Wilson said when announcing its opening. “So, to have a permanent destination in Nashville, is such a dream come true. I can’t wait for all my Wild Horses to get to experience my home away from home.”

Wilson will spend part of the year headlining her own Country’s Cool Again Tour. Find all of Wilson’s music and upcoming shows at LaineyWilson.com.
