Old Dominion is continuing their reign as the ACM Vocal Group of the Year in 2024. The five-man group has won in the category every year since 2017, an honor that is not lost on them.
“I think one thing that we have been trying to do over the past year or two is really make it a point ot take all of this in, because this is a business that is kind of like, ‘Go, go, go,'” lead singer Matt Ramsey said. “Even the show is, ‘Go, go, go.’ And we try, during our shows, to take a look at our fans who are the best in the world. We’re so proud of who our fans are, and thank you.”
Ramsey recalled a moment, very early in Old Dominion’s career, when things looked much different than they did now for the band.
“So I was sitting in the crowd, trying to take all of this in, and I thought of this moment where, about 12 years ago, Geoff [Sprung] and I were sitting on my porch, and we were drinking coffee, and we were talking about what we wanted this band to be,” he recalled. “And we watched a dude pull up and turn my water off, because I couldn’t pay the bill. And we could not have dreamed that we would be standing here having won this thing seven years in a row. This is absolutely insane. Thank you guys so much for allowing us to continue to do this.”

Old Dominion is working on more than just their all-star music career. They also recently announced plans to open their own Odie’s, a bar and music venue reminiscent of the places they played in when they were just getting their start in country music.
“We wanted it to be a place where a group of songwriters who might have a band could play, or someone starting out might be able to be part of a writers thing and get heard,” Trevor Rosen said when the news was announced. “You know, pay it forward because all these years later, we know it works. That’s much better than just a temple to who we think we are.”
Old Dominion was also nominated for Music Event of the Year, for their “Can’t Break Up Now” collaboration with Megan Moroney, which went to Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson, for “Save Me.” The song, currently in the Top 20, is from Old Dominion’s Memory Lane album, which was released last October.
