Kay earned high praise from Jelly Roll while on the road together. The country music superstar lauded Kay’s voice, along with her unstoppable work ethic, while performing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
“Before she leaves the stage, I want to tell you a little bit about this young woman,” Jelly Roll boasted. “This young woman in our business, she does it what we call completely independently, which means she has no record label. She has no financer. She has absolutely nothing. It’s her and her best friend, Beth. They’re doing this completely by themself. She has worked her a– off to get on this tour right here.
“She is one of the greatest singers, one of the greatest songwriters,” he continued. “My wife’s a fan, I’m a fan, our daughter’s a fan. Support independent music, but as a girl dad, more importantly, support independent women. Make some noise for Alexandra Kay.”

Kay has indeed done the work, in every way, to get to where she is now. The Illinois native went through a painful divorce, dealing with all of the pain and heartbreak head-on, instead of burying it like she had done in the past.
“I’ve very much done my due diligence to heal myself properly this year,” Kay told SPIN. “Before, I would just be like, ‘Oh okay, it’s fine that I have a panic attack a day.’ But this year is the time when I really sat down and I was just — for myself, for my fans, for my family, to make sure that I can continue to stay here, that I can continue to be here, and be the best artist and best friend, and the best daughter and the best girlfriend, the best that I can possibly be for all of the people around me. I need to continue to go to therapy. I need to face all of this head-on.”
Pre-sale for the Cupid’s a Cowgirl Tour begins on Thursday, November 14 at 10:00 AM CT, with all tickets available beginning on Friday, November 15, at 10:00 AM CT. Kay’s freshman All I’ve Ever Known album was released last year. Find all of her music and upcoming shows at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
