Alexandra Kay Announces Her Grand Ole Opry Debut

Alexandra Kay is heading to the Grand Ole Opry! The Illinois native shared a touching video of her on social media, having dinner with her parents, who surprised her with the news.

The video begins with Beth, Kay’s manager, revealing that they were going to surprise Kay with some good news.

“It’s everything she ever wanted,” Beth teased.

After sitting down at a restaurant with Beth and her parents, Kay’s father said, “Did you know Jelly Roll just did his Opry debut on November 19? That was last year. Why is that significant, right? Why is that significant? Because you’re doing yours on November 19 of this year!” he said, as his daughter became emotional over the news.

“It’s really real. That’s crazy,” a tearful Kay responded. “I am so happy … I really thought I wasn’t going to get to do that, ever.”

Kay previously shared a photo of her standing outside of the Grand Ole Opry, hinting that she was one step closer to making one of her biggest dreams come true.

“Thank you for letting me sing backstage for you yesterday, Grand Ole Opry, ” Kay captioned the picture. “I can’t wait for the day I get to step into that circle!”

It’s fitting that Kay’s father mentioned Jelly Roll, since he recently admitted, while speaking with Tracy Lawrence on Lawrence’s TL’s Road House podcast, that he is a big fan of the rising star.

“Of course, I’m a huge Alexandra Kay fan,” Jelly Roll said. “I just love her. She’s the salt of the earth, an incredible singer. Great soul, great human … it’s gonna work for her in a real way.

Kay recently released her very theatrical video for “Skip This Part,” which became a labor of love for Kay, her crew, and her husband, Indiana, who all starred in the video with Kay.

“Patrick Toehill was the director, and he was absolutely amazing to work with, and his entire crew was amazing to work with,” Kay said. “We’re going to be releasing a behind-the-scenes video in which you can see all of that, everything that went into that day, and all the hard work that everybody put in. We really do have a blast together. So much fun having the entire crew that has got me where I am in the video. Not the whole crew, but a lot of people that I love and care about.”

Kay has a full schedule for the next few months, which includes several dates opening for Lawrence and Clay Walker on their joint, co-headlining tour. Lauren Alaina and Mark Wills are already slated to join Kay on the Opry on November 19, with more artists expected to be announced shortly. Tickets for Kay’s Opry debut are available here.
