One of Alexandra Kay‘s biggest dreams came true over the weekend, when she made her long-awaited Grand Ole Opry debut. The rising star performed at the Opry on November 19, posting part of the moment on social media.
“In 2 years’ time, y’all completely changed my life,” Kay captioned the video. “I was signed to one of the biggest record labels in the biz, Then they dropped me because they wanted me to be ‘pop country.’ I believe country music should tell a story.”
Kay, who was introduced for her Grand Ole Opry debut by Mark Wills, then shared a clip of her performing “I Kinda Don’t” from the sacred stage.
Thank you @opry for having me. I will cherish this moment for the rest of my life. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/ruUtaykLQi

In October, Kay was surprised by her parents to find out she was invited to make her Grand Ole Opry debut.
“It’s really real. That’s crazy,” a tearful Kay responded when they shared the good news. “I am so happy … I really thought I wasn’t going to get to do that, ever.”
Kay will kick off her Backroad Therapy Tour on November 29, after serving as the opening act on Clay Walker and Tracy Lawrence‘s co-headlining tour.
“She is such a kind person. It’s great to see that with a new artist,” Walker told Everything Nash, sharing how thoughtful Kay is, on and off the stage. “After we had done some shows together, she sent Tracy a bottle of whiskey, and sent me a bottle of wine. It was just really super kind, super unexpected. I call that class. She’s got a lot of class.”
2022 was a career-changing year for Kay. After Tim McGraw saw a video of Kay covering his early hit, “Don’t Take the Girl” on TikTok, he invited her to join him, along with Russell Dickerson and Brandon Davis, on his McGraw Tour 2022,
“I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity,’ Kay said in a video posted on YouTube after the end of the tour. “I’ve worked so hard over the years, and there were so many parts of me that thought that I’d never get here. I’ve gotten a life’s worth of lessons in the last two months.”
The Illinois native will also perform for Lawrence’s Mission:Possible Turkey Fry Benefit Concert, held at the Wildhorse Saloon. Kay will share the stage with Lawrence, Gary Allan, Travis Denning and more. That show will take place on November 22, at 7:00 PM.
Kay’s Backroad Therapy Tour wraps up on December 15, in Huntington, West Virginia. Find all of Kay’s music and tour dates at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
