New music is coming soon from Alexandra Kay. The singer-songwriter reveals on social media that her sophomore record is almost finished.
“Hiiii friends,” Kay captions a photo of her in the studio. “I’ve been working so hard on this new record and I can’t wait for y’all to hear it. We are almost done! I swear! Hang tight! I love you!”
The next set of tunes follows Kay’s freshman All I’ve Ever Known album. It’s likely that Kay’s new record will be as honest and vulnerable as All I’ve Ever Known. The singer-songwriter makes it a point to share her raw emotions in all of her music, as she did with her previous project, written while processing her divorce from her husband, Indiana.

“I’m not gonna lie, when I put this record out, I was terrified,” Kay admits on Joel Madden’s Artist Friendly podcast. “I was like, ‘There’s gonna be some backlash.’ And I think when you’re doing something that’s really gonna help people, or is going to make a difference in any way, it feels really scary. And so, I felt like how terrified I am to put this out, I really need to make sure that it goes out.”
Kay is not only honest but tenacious. The Illinois native shared a reel of some of her highlights over the last several years, revealing that she once considered quitting after losing her second record deal five years prior.

“Before she leaves the stage, I want to tell you a little bit about this young woman,” Jelly Roll boasted. “This young woman in our business, she does it what we call completely independently, which means she has no record label. She has no financer. She has absolutely nothing. It’s her and her best friend, Beth. They’re doing this completely by themself. She has worked her a– off to get on this tour right here.
“She is one of the greatest singers, one of the greatest songwriters,” he continued. “My wife’s a fan, I’m a fan, our daughter’s a fan. Support independent music, but as a girl dad, more importantly, support independent women. Make some noise for Alexandra Kay.”
