Alexandra Kay Nails Cover of Luke Combs’ ‘Love You Anyway’ [WATCH]

Luke Combs just dropped a new song, “Love You Anyway,” which is quickly becoming a favorite among all of his fans, including Alexandra Kay. The rising star posted a cover of her singing a stripped-down version of the romantic track.

Kay admits she is “obsessed” with Combs’ new song, which is from his forthcoming  Gettin’ Old album, out on March 24.

This isn’t Kay’s first time stripping down a popular song. She recently put her own take on Blink-182’s “Dammit,” which was first released by the rock group in 1997.

“From a viral tiktok cover … to recording mixing mastering and releasing in a week’s time,” Kay shared on social media when the song was released. “So happy our sad girl version of ‘DAMMIT’ by Blink-182 is out into the world.”

Combs previously siad “Love You Anyway” was inspired by something he said at a concert to his wife, Nicole, before he played “Beautiful Crazy,” also inspired by her.

“Valentine’s Day 2020. I was playing a show and had dedicated ‘Beautiful Crazy’ to Nicole and said, ‘If you’re in here (the arena), I love you. If not, you know I do anyway,’” Combs shared on social media. “Unknown to me, my buddy Dan wrote down ‘Love You Anyway’ as a title in his phone after hearing that, then he told me the story later that month when he and I were writing with my good friend Ray Fulcher.

“We loved the idea as a title and decided to write about loving someone so much that even if you knew from the beginning they were going to break your heart, you’d love them anyway,” he continued. “It came off very poetic and we wanted to find the words that could really give meaning to what we were trying to say, but as we say in the song, we didn’t know if there were deep enough words made for that.”

Kay’s fanbase grew exponentially as she began posting covers of other people’s songs, but she has also earned acclaim for her own songs, including “That’s What Love Is,”  “Skip This Part,”“ Backroad Therapy” and more. The Illinois native took the first part of 2023 off, to put the finishing touches on her upcoming debut solo album.

“I am not gonna release any release dates or anything else on that … It’ll be titled Backroad Therapy,” Kay told Music Mayhem. “I’m just really excited for the world to get a full project from me.”

In addition to new music, Kay also plans on spending much of 2023 on the road. Find music and tour dates at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
