Awards season is officially here. With the CMA Awards less than two weeks away, the American Music Awards just announced their list of nominees, one day after the People’s Choice Awards nominees were announced.
Chris Stapleton and Gabby Barrett each received three nods. Stapleton is nominated for Favorite Male Country Artist, Favorite Country Album, for Starting Over, and Favorite Country Song, for the record’s title track.
Barrett is nominated for Favorite Female Country Artist, Favorite Country Album, for Goldmine, and Favorite Country Song, for “The Good Ones.”
Stapleton shares the Favorite Male Country Artist with Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen. Bryan also received another nomination, for Favorite Album, for Born Here Live Here Die Here. Combs also received another nod as well, for Favorite Country Song, for “Forever After All.”
Carrie Underwood received two nods. The American Idol alum is nominated for Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Inspirational Artist. Other Favorite Female Artist nominees include Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert.
Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Lady A, Old Dominion and the Zac Brown Band are each nominated for Favorite Country Duo or Group.
Lee Brice received one nod, for Favorite Country Album, for Hey World. Chris Young and Kane Brown also received one nod, for Favorite Country Song, for “Famous Friends,” as did Walker Hayes who received one nod, in the same category, for “Fancy Like.”
Other Favorite Inspirational Artist nominees include Elevation Worship, Lauren Daigle and Zach Williams.
Wallen is also nominated for Dangerous: The Double Album. Although he has received two nominations, he will not be invited to attend the ceremony, citing his uttering of a racial slur earlier this year as his reason for exclusion.
The American Music Awards will air on Sunday, November 21, at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
