Amy Grant is, thankfully, on the mend, a month after she sustained serious injuries in a bike accident at a park in Nashville. The gospel singer was hospitalized following the accident, and then sent home to continue her recovery, ultimately canceling her fall tour dates so she could regain her health.
Grant posted a new update on social media, thanking fans for their support, and vowing to be back on the road in time for Christmas with Michael W. Smith, as well as her Christmas residency with her husband, Vince Gill, at the Ryman Auditorium.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who has written me a note, sent flowers or gifts, or said a prayer on my behalf,” Grant wrote. “I’m one month into a recovery that has held so many unexpected hidden gifts. On the advice of my doctors and other friends who have been through similar experiences of recovery, I am choosing to give myself the gift of a very simple fall season. I look forward to making music with Michael W. and Vince during the Christmas season. With deep appreciation and joy….xo, Amy.”

Gill revealed during his recent four-night residency at the Ryman that Grant’s injuries were much more serious than what was publicly shared.
“She was unconscious for about ten or 15 minutes. I don’t think they talked about that too much, but that was scary,” Gill revealed.
Grant’s longtime manager, Jennifer Cooke, shared an update explaining why Grant would be unable to tour this fall.
“Amy is getting stronger every day,” Cooke shared. “Just as she did after her heart surgery, we are amazed at how fast she heals. However, although she is doing much better, we have made the difficult decision to postpone her fall tour so she can concentrate on her recovery and rebuild her stamina. She wants to be able to give 100 percent when she tours and, unfortunately, we do not think that will be the case by the time rehearsals would start for the fall dates.”
Grant was recently announced as one of the recipients of the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors, along with U2, Gladys Knight, George Clooney, and composer and conductor Tania León. The ceremony will take place in December.
Grant’s tour was in support of her Behind The Eyes (25th Anniversary Expanded Edition), which will be released on September 29, marking exactly 25 years to the day since the record was released. The rescheduled concert dates will take place between February and April of 2023. Tour updates can be found at AmyGrant.com.
