Amy Grant is still soaking up the recent Kennedy Centers Honors ceremony, where she was recognized alongside U2, Gladys Knight, George Clooney, and composer and conductor Tania León. The gospel singer was honored in several musical tributes, as well as a tribute by Katie Couric, with the ceremony airing on December 28 on CBS.
Grant spoke out about the extraordinary moment on social media.
“Last night as I watched the Kennedy Center Honors, what I thought about was ALL the many people who have stood by my side, dreamed with me, encouraged me, written songs with me, recorded with me, performed with me and prayed for me. This moment was for all of us,” Grant wrote, sharing a couple of photos of the event. “I am so grateful to The Kennedy Center for extending the invitation to be included with this incredible class. It is truly an honor to be mentioned alongside Gladys Knight, George Clooney, Tania León and U2.
“To Katie Couric, Sheryl Crow, The Highwomen (Natalie Hemby, Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris, Amanda Shires), Jason Isbell, Bebe Winans, Cece Winans and Michael W. Smith — thank you for sharing your gifts with the world as you sang my songs and told my story,” she continued. “Thanks also to Garth Brooks, President Biden and David Rubenstein for the heartfelt remarks throughout the weekend. And to Lauren Daigle and Dolly Parton, thank you for adding your voices to this honor apart from the televised broadcast.”
Grant concluded by thanking those closest to her, her children and her husband, Vince Gill.
“To my kids and family — thank you for showing up in all the ways you do,” Grant wrote. “I love you. And to Vince – thank you for being by my side in every way that matters most. I love you.”

Grant previously admitted that she never imagined her career would be recognized with the Kennedy Center Honors, making her the first Contemporary Christian singer to receive the accolade.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine ever receiving this prestigious Kennedy Center Honor,” Grant said of the recognition. “Through the years I’ve watched so many of my heroes serenaded by colleagues and fellow artists, always moved by the ability of music and film to bring us together and to see the best in each other. I cannot wait to celebrate with my fellow honorees, friends and family. Thank you for widening the circle to include all of us.”
