Anne Wilson has a new song out, for an upcoming film. The 20-year-old just released “Living Water,” written by Wilson, along with her frequent collaborators, Matthew West and Jeff Pardo, the song is part of the soundtrack for Jesus Revolution, a new film starring Kelsey Grammer, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Jim Gaffigan, and more.
“I love to create and write songs, especially ones that truly speak to me,” Wilson explains. “After watching the new Jesus Revolution movie, I was deeply inspired by its message and its ability to reignite my own faith journey, which led us to write ‘Living Water.’ I hope it’s a testament to the transformative power of music and I pray that it will touch your heart in a profound way.”
Wilson released her debut My Jesus album last year, with the record’s first single, the title track, also becoming her first No. 1 hit. The Kentucky native grew up with dreams of being an astronaut, but began pursuing music after the sudden death of her brother, Jacob, in 2017.
“I sang for the first time in front of anyone at my brother’s funeral,” Wilson told Everything Nash, “I had never sung in front of anyone before; my mom and dad had never heard me sing. I played piano my whole life, but I was 15 years old and I had never sung in front of anyone. I was downstairs just worshiping the Lord in the middle of the day, probably four or five days after Jacob had passed away. We were planning the funeral and my mom came in the room.
“She overheard me singing, and then she asked me if I would be willing to sing at the funeral,” she continued. “So the singing at the funeral led to then posting a video of that song, which that video went viral. That’s how I met my manager. And that’s basically how I got into the national scene, all because of that one moment at the funeral.”
Wilson will attend the Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 5, where she is nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, for My Jesus.
“I’m truly blown away that I’ve been nominated for a GRAMMY,” Wilson said at the time. “Words fail to describe my gratitude for all God has done and is doing through my life. I can’t help but wonder if my brother in Heaven is getting to see all of this. This is surreal and I’m beyond thankful. All glory and honor to the name above ALL names, Jesus.”
The 2023 Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday, February 5, at 8:00 PM ET on CBS. The ceremony will also stream live and on-demand on Paramount+. Jesus Revolution will be in theaters nationwide on February 24.
