Anne Wilson Honors Her Late Brother: ‘You Were Everything to Me’

Anne Wilson is offering a touching tribute to her late brother, Jacob, on the fifth anniversary of when he passed away in a car accident. Wilson posted a video on social media of her with her brother Jacob and sister, Elizabeth, on June 7, honoring his life and legacy.

“Five years ago today,” Wilson wrote. “The day that changed my life and altered my future. The day I lost you, my sweet brother, Jacob. Honestly, I cannot believe it’s been five years since I’ve laid eyes on you or hugged you. It seems like a lifetime ago but also seems like yesterday. I remember the sound of your laugh so vividly. The way your eyes squinted when you smiled. I remember the way you’d say my name from across the room. You were the light of my life. You were so full of joy and life. You were more than I could have ever dreamed up for a big brother. Thank you for the love you displayed for me and Elizabeth.”

Wilson also commented on Jacob’s influence in her life, especially when it comes to her Christian faith.

“Thank you for leading me to Jesus and the life only HE can give,” Wilson said. “Thank you for standing by me and supporting me through every crazy dream I had. You were everything to me, and you always will be. The joy of my heart is knowing that you’re with Jesus and that you’re watching over me. I couldn’t be more grateful for the hope we have because of Jesus. I know you’re seeing all that’s happening down here and I hope we’re making you proud. I love you with everything I have and I cannot wait to give you a big hug one day. You’re forever in my heart.

“Found this precious video of us all together celebrating Elizabeth’s bday,” she added. “So forever grateful for each memory we have of us 3 together.”

Wilson previously said it was the loss of her big brother that made her change from wanting to be an astronaut to a Christian music singer.

“I wanted to work for NASA,” Wilson told Everything Nash. “I wanted to go down that path. Since I was really, really little — my mom said when I was three and four years old — I would always be looking up at space and just admiring the beauty. I would ask to stay up late so that I could look at the stars. I was just always very big into NASA and space, and math and science came naturally to me. That’s what I wanted to do, and it seemed like that was what the path was going to be the path for me.

“And then my brother passed away in 2017, and that’s when everything shifted for me,” she continued. “My perspective changed on life in a really big way. I was only 15 at the time, so I was still in my early high school years. I decided to pursue music and drop everything to do with NASA.”
