Ashley McBryde Drops ‘Light On In The Kitchen’ [LISTEN]

Ashley McBryde has a new song she is ready to share with the world. The Grand Ole Opry member just dropped “Light On In The Kitchen,” a song she wrote with Connie Harrington and Jessi Alexander. The song, which celebrates the beauty of coming home, is from a forthcoming new album.

“When I tell someone there’s a ‘Light On In The Kitchen’ for them, to me it means you’re thinking of them, even if they’re not coming home that night,” McBryde explains. “While writing this, we were all able to look back and remember the women in our lives who comforted us, gave us advice and made sure we knew we had a place to go. Writing this song showed me how necessary that simple comfort had been.”

“Light On In The Kitchen” became a full-circle moment for McBryde, when she sent it to some of the women with the most impact in her own life, after it was written.

“I sent it to the important women in my life, and they reminded me that they still leave the kitchen light on for me, just like when I was growing up,” McBryde recalls. “Knowing someone, somewhere is thinking of you in that way can get you through a lot. And it’s a bonus that now we get to say, ‘I love you’ or ‘I’m thinking of you’ by saying ‘The light’s on for ya.’”

McBryde already has plenty to celebrate in 2023. In addition to joining Wynonna Judd  on part of The Judds: The Final Tour, she also just made history with Carly Pearce earlier this year. The two won the Grammy Award for Best Country Duo/Group collaboration, for their “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” duet, marking the first time two females have won in the category. The win is extra sweet for McBryde, who admits she was hesitant to write the song with Pearce.

“I was like, ‘This is a little soon, and this is a little close to home for you, and if we’re being honest, it’s a little close to home for me,” McBryde conceded to People. “And she said, ‘I think we should do it.’”

McBryde has plenty of concert dates on the calendar in 2023, including headlining shows as well as joining Jelly Roll for part of his Backroad Baptism Tour. Find “Light In The Kitchen,” and all of McBryde’s music and upcoming shows at AshleyMcBryde.com.
