Blake Shelton Announces Las Vegas Residency, ‘Live in Las Vegas’

Blake Shelton is heading to Las Vegas. The Grand Ole Opry member, who opened his latest — and biggest — Ole Red in Las Vegas earlier this year, announces his Blake Shelton: Live in Las Vegas, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, beginning on February 5, 2005, and running through February 15.

“It’s been swirling for years now, and ever since the idea was first floated about opening an Ole Red in Las Vegas, this conversation has been happening too,” Shelton tells People.

“If you’re going to have a stake in Las Vegas, you got to do a residency also if you’re an artist,” he adds. “I’ve just been kicking the can down the road because I wanted the Ole Red to be open before I did it.”

The Oklahoma native, who hints that he might also perform at Ole Red while doing his residency dates, admits he has been inspired by his close friend, Garth Brooks, and how he has maintained his own Vegas residency, Garth Brooks/Plus ONE.

“He played songs that he grew up loving and made him fall in love with music. I don’t want to just rip somebody off, but I do love the idea of doing something that you wouldn’t normally get to see out on tour,” says Shelton. “So I got to figure out what that is, and now I’m going to start thinking about how it would be different than something I would do on tour.”

It’s likely Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, will also make an appearance. The two have another duet out now, “Purple Irises,” this one for a future album by Stefani.

“I’d always thought it was just something different,” Shelton says of the song. “It sounded like it came from another time. She’s been working and piling up songs for a while now, and I always went back to, ‘Man, I love that one.’ One day I was sitting at the house and she called me and said, ‘Hey, what do you think of doing ‘Purple Irises’ as a duet?’ I was like, hell yeah!”

Stefani is returning for the upcoming season of The Voice, a show he was a coach on for the first 23 seasons, before stepping away to focus on his time with his three stepsons. The 48-year-old hints he would return to The Voice, just for one season, but only under one condition: if Adam Levine Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green also returned.

“If they were ever able to put together the original four coaches again, maybe [I’d return] for one season, a one-off,” Shelton hints to Entertainment Tonight. “That would be fun for me… That would be something I would be interested in doing.”

Tickets for Blake Shelton: Live in Las Vegas will be available beginning at 1:00 PM ET at BlakeShelton.com.
