Blake Shelton Announces Release of New Single, ‘Texas’

A new song is coming from Blake Shelton! The Oklahoma native reveals “Texas,” his debut single on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, will be out on November 15. The song is the first release from a forthcoming new project.

“The thing that struck me about ‘Texas’ immediately was how different it sounded for me, and I’m always looking to push myself,” Shelton says of the song. “I think there’s something really special about this record and important for me.”

“Texas,” written by Johnny Clawson, Kyle Sturrock, Josh Dorr and Lalo Guzman is, according to Shelton, the right way to introduce his new musical chapter, after spending the first 23 years of his career on Warner Music Nashville.

“This is the perfect opportunity to come back with something so different, and it easily felt like it should be the first single,” Shelton says. “It’s connected with what I’ve done but moves forward at the same time, and it’s the perfect start to the next chapter of my career.”

When announcing he had signed a new record deal, after spending the first 23 years of his career on Warner Music Nashville, the 48-year-old said it was a bittersweet decision.

“I moved to Nashville when I was 17 to sing country music and get a record deal,” Shelton said at the time. “Along with the support from Warner, my dreams came true, and then some. It’s impossible to name everyone who has had a hand in all the success we enjoyed, but a huge and heartfelt thank you to the Giant Records, Warner Bros. Records and Warner Music Nashville staff and family.”

Shelton also just announced he is part of a new reality TV talent show, The Road, airing next year on CBS. The show, which he is launching along with Taylor Sheridan, will feature a still-to-be-named superstar, with aspiring singers joining the headliner on tour, serving as the opening act in venues all over the country. Each of the singers will compete to win over local fanbases to be able to perform in the city and remain on the tour.

“I’m a big fan of Taylor’s incredible work, and I’m excited to team with him and my long-time collaborator, Lee, on The Road,” Shelton says. “I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a music dream and live life on tour. I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.”

In addition to working on The Road, Shelton will also spend part of 2025 on tour. The Oklahoma native will kick off his Friends & Heroes Tour 2025 on February 27 in Lexington, Kentucky, joined by Trace Adkins, plus Craig MorganDeana Carter and Emily Ann Roberts.
