It’s never too early to celebrate Christmas, at least according to Blake Shelton. The “No Body” singer shared his thoughts on whether it was okay to put a Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving, something he wholeheartedly endorses.
“Yes. Abso-damn-lutely,” Shelton said on The Jennifer Hudson Show when asked if he thought it was okay. “Because, listen to me, not only does it look festive and awesome and beautiful, also, if you’re gonna go through the trouble of putting all that crap up, get some time out of it.”
Shelton enjoys spending the holidays with his wife, Gwen Stefani, and his three stepsons. While Shelton didn’t reveal where they would spend Thanksgiving this year, or who would be cooking, their menu will likely be better than it was a few years ago.
“The whole family, we really get into the holidays,” Shelton said. “The only tradition that I think we have is, me and the kids, they all watch TikTok and all the stuff, and so they see people making these weird turkeys. So, like a couple of years ago we had to make a Flamin’ Hot Cheetos turkey. You like grind up the Cheetos and you put it on the turkey and then you make the turkey. There’s really no point to it.”
Shelton recently praised Stefani, whom he wed in 2021, when Stefani received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, five months after Shelton received his.
“The first time I ever met Gwen was in 2014,” Shelton said in part, recalling the first time the two met, while on the set of The Voice. “She wasn’t like any other famous person that I had ever met before. She drove herself to work in a black minivan, with car seats in it. She didn’t roll in with security.
“She came in with a baby and two little boys, which at the time worked like security, because nobody was going near her,” he added with a laugh. “It was chaos. It was clear to me that she was a mother, first and foremost over anything else in the world. That was her No. 1 job. And now, standing here almost ten years later after I first met her, I can say without question that being a mother is still the most important thing in her life. And I gotta tell you all, that’s rare in this business.”
Shelton is hard at work on his sixth, and largest Ole Red, this one located in Las Vegas. He will kick off his 2024 Back To The Honky Tonk Tour in February, with Dustin Lynch and Emily Ann Roberts serving as his opening act. Find all of Shelton’s music and tour dates at BlakeShelton.com.
