Blake Shelton Donates $150,000 to Oklahoma Food Bank

Blake Shelton will likely never have to worry about going hungry, but he is acutely aware that others may not be as fortunate, especially with so many people losing their jobs due to COVID-19. For that reason, the singer made the surprising, and generous, announcement that he is donating $150,000 to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma ,as part of ABC affiliate’s KOCO-TV 5’s Give From Home Fundraiser.

“A lot of Oklahomans are going to bed hungry tonight,” Blake said in a video shared on the KOCO’s website. “That’s not something that I can live with. That’s why I’m going to be donating to the Regional Food Bank, the Oklahoma Food Bank. I hope you will join me and help from home. Send in that donation because a lot of people out there are counting on us.”

Blake Shelton has been on his ranch in Oklahoma ever since the coronavirus pandemic forced people all over the world to self-isolate. But although he isn’t working, he is making sure his employees at his Ole Red locations are still getting paid, even if all of his venues are currently closed.

“I want people to know that we do have a commitment to all of our employees,” Blake announced on social media. “We’re taking care of them, and we’re trying to figure out ways to take care of some of the artists and musicians that perform at the Ole Reds.”

Blake, who has been with his longtime girlfriend, Gwen Stefani, and her three sons for at least some of the time, is urging others to make safety their top priority.

“Until this thing gets behind us, we all have to do the right thing, so I’m out here in the middle of nowhere,” Shelton added “Just do the right thing, stay away from everybody. For some of us, that’s not hard, ’cause nobody likes us.

“I will be coming back to you all, and passing along any new information, as far as Ole Reds go, and when we may reopen,” he continued. “But for now, let’s not think about that. Let’s take our mandatory vacation and try to enjoy it. I’m thinking about y’all, and see you down the road.”
