Blake Shelton has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 46-year-old was joined for the ceremony by his wife, Gwen Stefani, stepsons Zuma, Rossdale and Kingston, The Voice host Carson Daly, and his former fellow coach, Adam Levine, whom he jokingly referred to as his “other wife.”
“I’ve been telling people for the last few weeks that I’m getting a Hollywood square, so this is shocking to me that this even happened,” Shelton said during his acceptance speech. “This was never on my radar. I had a dream of being a country singer, and hearing myself on the radio one day. I never, ever thought that that path would lead me to here.”
The Grand Ole Opry member went on to pay tribute to those closest to him, including Stefani.
“I kind of stopped checking things off my list of great accomplishments in my life when I married Gwen, so this is just icing on the cake,” Shelton said. “I love you, so much, and that’s the great thing that’s happened along this journey. My family’s all here, by the way, from Oklahoma. I was talking to my mom this morning, and I was just thinking about what I’m gonna say when I get up here.
“She said to me, ‘I wish Richie could’ve been here to see this, and everything that you’ve done,'” he continued. “I feel like that’s probably the best way to wrap this up. Richie was my brother that I lost many, many years ago. So I dedicate my star on this Walk of Fame to my brother Richie.”
Stefani also lauded her husband of almost two years, and all of his accomplishments throughout the past 30-plus years.
“It blows my mind to be here today, standing on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, celebrating my husband, by the way,” Stefani shared. “Blake Shelton, you are so deserving of this honor, and the boys and I, and all of your family, your friends, your colleagues, could not be more proud.”
The No Doubt singer went on to praise who Shelton is as both an artist and a human, tracing the trajectory of his life and career from his early days in Ada, Oklahoma.
“There is no one more authentic than this guy,” boasted his proud wife. “He lives, he breathes country music. He is a country music jukebox, and it is his DNA. He was born to do this, and hasn’t done anything because he wanted to be a star. He’s just always been a star. From barely graduating from high school, to roofing houses, and then moving to Nashville by himself at 17 years old to chase the only thing he ever wanted to do in his life, be a country singer. With 28 No. 1 singles, 23 seasons on The Voice, Blake has always stayed true to himself.
“There is nobody like him,” she continued. “He’s a one-of-a-kind guy, and the audiences all fall in love with him. He’s humble, he’s genuine, and trust me, wherever we go everybody feels like they know Blake Shelton. Blake, you are a rare human being. For all the success he has had in his life, and as a singer, a songwriter, a musician, a performer, an entertainer, an actor, a comedian, an entrepreneur, he’s the same guy today as he was back then: a country guy with a love for country music. He’s magnetic, the most generous person you’ll ever know.”
Stefani concluded with sweet words for the “No Body” singer.
“The reason Blake Shelton is here today on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is because you are part of the country dream, the Hollywood dream, and you are part of the American Dream,” she gushed. “And everybody knows you are my dream come true. I love you.”
After the ceremony, Shelton spoke about the significance of having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and being honored by his wife in the process.
“Well, nothing’s official to me unless Gwen is a part of it,” Shelton later told Fox News. “Wouldn’t have felt right, in fact, I probably would have made sure and searched around and found a day, if she couldn’t have been here today, to be sure we did it on a day where she could at least be here and be with me, because things just aren’t fun unless she’s a part of it,”
Shelton is currently on his final season of The Voice, which will wrap up with the season finale on Tuesday, May 23. He is being replaced next season by Reba McEntire.
