Blake Shelton’s new single with Gwen Stefani, “Happy Anywhere,” is out! The couple performed the single on the Today Show on Friday, July 24, from the comfort of their own home.

“I learned a long time ago that if something’s working for you, you just keep going with it,” Blake said of their decision to release another collaboration. “Since ‘Nobody But You‘ did so well for us earlier this year, Gwen and I have another song that we’re releasing together.”

 

Blake previously said that the decision to release “Happy Anywhere” was inspired by their unexpected time together, even though the song was actually written before “Nobody But You.”

“‘Nobody But You’ was a big song for us, but we actually recorded ‘Happy Anywhere’ before that. We were waiting for the right time to release it, and I knew that time was now,” Blake told People. “We’re all still socially distancing, so there’s no better time to be happy anywhere with the person or people you love. It doesn’t matter where in the world you are — as long as you’re with them, you’re happy.”

Blake is soaking up as much time with Gwen as he can before they both have to head out on the road again.

“Even though Gwen and I just had a single out we decided that, under the circumstances, this year… man, there’s never been a better time for ‘Happy Anywhere,’” Blake said. “We’ve all been in quarantine and lockdown, and hopefully we’ve been doing that with somebody that we really love and enjoy being around. That’s what happened with Gwen and me this summer – and this entire year.”

Chances are, Blake and Gwen might record several more songs in the future, since the two singers are more in love than ever.

“An Okie boy and a California girl look on paper like an unlikely match, but what matters is she’s a great human being,” Blake said. “She is the most understanding, kind-hearted person I’ve ever met and I learn something from her every day.”
