Blake Shelton Kicks Off His Las Vegas Residency: ‘This Is a Big Deal For Me’

Blake Shelton has officially kicked off his Las Vegas residency. The Grand Ole Opry member launched his Live in Las Vegas residency on February 5.

“This is a big deal for me,” Shelton says. “This is the opening night of my first residency ever. I’ve been coming to Las Vegas for a long time, so I know what my job is here tonight. We’re here to make memories.”

Shelton ran through several of his biggest hits, including “Sangria,” “Honey Bee,” “Ol’ Red,” “God’s Country,” “Boys ‘Round Here,” along with “Pour Me A Drink,” his collaboration with Post Malone, which he used to kick off the inaugural night.

“I am excited to finally be in Vegas, bringing the honky tonk to Sin City!” Shelton says. “We have a lot of fun ahead of us here at The Colosseum the next two weeks.”

Shelton also shared photos of the historic night, performing to a packed crowd.

The Oklahoma native might have just performed his first show as part of his Las Vegas residency, but he’s no stranger to the city. In early 2024, he opened up his sixth Ole Red location in Las Vegas, which happens to be the largest one to date.

“It’s been swirling for years now, and ever since the idea was first floated about opening an Ole Red in Las Vegas, this conversation has been happening too,” Shelton told People when announcing the residency.

“If you’re going to have a stake in Las Vegas, you got to do a residency also if you’re an artist,” he added. “I’ve just been kicking the can down the road because I wanted the Ole Red to be open before I did it.”

2025 is going to be a busy year for Shelton. In addition to his Las Vegas residency, he will also embark on his Friends and Heroes Tour, kicking off on February 27 in Lexington, Kentucky. Shelton will be joined on tour by his former touring partner Trace Adkins, plus Craig MorganDeana Carter and Emily Ann Roberts.

“The Friends & Heroes Tour is one of my favorite tours because as a fan, I can’t think of a cooler concert to see,” Shelton says. “I get spoiled every night seeing these icons come out and do four or five of the biggest hits of their storied careers. And then get introduced to new talent like Emily Ann. I can’t wait.”

Performing aside, Shelton is also busy working on new music. The 48-year-old has a Top 10 hit with “Texas,” his debut single from his next record, his first on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville.

“I’m still working with Scott Hendricks, my producer,” Shelton says on Country Countdown USA. “Can’t imagine working with anyone else. He pushes me to do something different. We also have the same musicians in the studio. The only thing that’s different is we changed record labels. I felt it was time to turn the page, get some new people, and they help me feel rejuvenated again.”
