Few people are as busy as Bobby Bones. The host of the award-winning iHeartRadio Bobby Bones Show, he also is in the middle of filming his own Breaking Bobby Bones show, airing on National Geographic, as well as has his own podcast, among other ventures. But the 40-year-old has found a way to find at least a little bit of balance, thanks to his girlfriend, Caitlin Parker, who makes sure he takes plenty of time for himself as well.
“Even though I’m busy, I have a great influence on my life, and her name is Caitlin,” Bobby told Everything Nash. “My girlfriend, she is extremely present. With Cait, life doesn’t revolve around what’s happening on TV and radio. For me, I’ve been so dedicated to my job, and her focus is not that. She doesn’t even like it, honestly. She doesn’t want any of the attention.
“That’s good for me,” he added. “At first it was forced, but it has made me value time. So, I do sleep a little bit more, mostly because she has instilled in me, beat in me that I need it.”
Bobby might be learning to take time off, but right now free time is tough to come by. With a radio show that airs Monday through Friday, his weekends lately have been spent filming all of the episodes for his Breaking Bobby Bones show.
“I’m very excited about it,” the Arkansas native said. “We got a bunch of episodes done. We still have about 12 more to go. I work [in Nashville] Monday through Friday. I start shooting Friday night, as soon as I get off a plane, and shoot Friday nights, Saturday and Sunday, then fly back, and get home late Sunday night, and do it again Monday morning. And so I’m on about 26 days in a row right now, but I love what I do. And if you love what you do, that’s where your fulfillment is.”
Bobby is once again partnering with Purina Dog Chow, for their Service Dog Salute campaign, which raises money to provide service dogs for veterans struggling with PTSD and other disorders.
“I’ve been doing it for years and years and years, before Purina reached out,” Bobby told Everything Nash. “What was great about them reaching out is they were doing it too at the same time. So we both were finding service dogs, spending the money, making sure vets got them, but we were doing it apart. And as you know, there’s definitely strength in numbers. So we started working together last year, which was fantastic for me. Each service dog is like $20,000. And that’s why less than one percent of vets are able to get one, because of money. So my goal, and Purina Dog Chow’s goal, has been to get as many as possible.
“We’re working with Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue, and also Got Your Six Service Dogs,” he remarked. “It’s just for me so fulfilling because I owe every single person that’s out sacrificing for me. I owe them when I can give them.”
