Bobby Bones has never had alcohol, and likely never will. The host of the Bobby Bones Show reveals the real reason he hasn’t even had as much as a sip, and doesn’t plan on ever starting to drink.
“If I decide to have a drink, it’s kind of like I pop the bubble, and I’m going to drink from now on, just because of my history,” Bobby explained on his iHeartRadio show. “My dad left, and he was an alcoholic. He left when I was five, six years old, and he peaced out. My mom died from drugs and alcohol. So I just saw it at a young age and said this is not for me because I don’t want to have my kids in this situation.
“So then, I decided never to drink,” he continued. “I just turned 40. I haven’t had a drink of alcohol, and it’s nothing moral. I would like to drink. But I know, because I do everything all the way, or I don’t do it at all — I thought about just going, ‘You know what? I would like to beat it. I would like to beat the fear of having alcohol consume me,’ because I’m a competitive person. I don’t know that getting married would make me want to celebrate. Mostly it would be a curiosity, and I would want to do it by myself.”
Bobby is working on a new TV show, Breaking Bobby Bones, which has unfortunately been affected by COVID-19.
“I’m excited about my new TV show starting, as far as shooting it,” Bobby previously shared. “It’s a show on Nat Geo. We’re doing 16 episodes. It’s called Breaking Bobby Bones, and I go and find people with stories similar to mine, that come from backgrounds that some people would think were rough, much like my story. And so we were going to go out to Idaho, outside of Boise, next week, and it just got delayed. It’s just all because of the COVID restrictions. So now, that’s a later one.”
