New Christmas music is here from Brandon Davis! The singer-songwriter just released “December,” a nostalgic tune that celebrates reminiscing this holiday season.
“This song is for all of those loved ones who didn’t make it to the holidays with us this year and to spread the true meaning of Christmas!” Davis said when the song was released.
Ahead of the release of “December,” Davis shared the story behind the song in a Facebook Live video.
“There’s so much life that has been poured into this song,” Davis explained. “Through stories, through really just thinking back through the years of Christmas with my family, and the traditions that got shared and passed down, and the ones that are still getting passed down from generation to generation, and new ones that we’ve made and created.”
“December” follows Davis’ Silverado Santa EP, released last year, along with a children’s book of the same name.
“‘December,’ obviously it’s a Christmas song, but it’s one that we really tried to connect on a different emotional level with, and make it relatable to everyone, while at the same time sharing some very personal stories,” Davis shared. “I wrote this with Dan Agee, and he is a mastermind of a producer, but a heck of a songwriter, and I’m very honored to put this one out, alongside of him. It’s a song that we’ve crafted around stories that we feel like are going to register with family traditions that y’all have known through your Christmas experiences, from the time you were a kid until now, and maybe some that remind you of different memories and different stories that always got told, or maybe it’s stories that you’re now telling that someone else used to tell to you.
“What’s special about ‘December’ is that it’s about not just those stories, but the person who told them,” he added. “And that was what I was really excited about … We tried to take those stories, and not just talk about the memories that were made in them, but talk about the people that were telling them.”
Next Christmas, Davis will have to buy a lot more presents. The father of four shared in October that his wife Destiny was expecting twins, a few weeks after revealing that Destiny was pregnant.
“This journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster,” she said when announcing the good news. “From our first IVF appointment nearly two years ago to our pregnancy and loss back in the spring of our baby girl, to now officially being pregnant again. We are so very thankful for God’s blessings and His timing.”
In spite of his busy career, Davis’ first priority is to be a hands-on dad, something he will continue even with the arrival of his two baby girls.
“We just try to time-manage as best we can, and we’re making sure that we’re booking around not just our lives, but the kids’ lives too, because I don’t want to miss those moments,” Davis previously told Everything Nash. “I don’t want to be the guy that says, ‘Yeah, my son’s doing great in baseball. I got a video of that the other day.’ Well, no. I was there for it. I was coaching it. That’s what I want to be there for.”
