New music is here from Brett Eldredge! The Illinois native just announced his new single, “Gabrielle,” from an upcoming new album, Sunday Drive. The single will officially be released on April 26, with the record following on July 10.
“I think you have to give yourself permission to do anything in life, to be brave a little bit,” Brett said in a statement. “I got to a certain point where I was doing something in repetition and it was all really good… but I felt like I wasn’t giving enough of myself. It took a lot of self-awareness to finally realize that if I do really have a lot more in me, then I’ve got to step up and I’ve got to take that step off the edge. And I think enough time of doing it the same way made me realize it’s time to do it big.”
“Gabrielle” is about a personal relationship Brett had, which he remembers fondly, even if the memory is also painful for him.
“It is a real story,” Brett admitted. “It’s kind of a breakup song, but with a bittersweet kind of happy [sentiment], wishing the other person well within their life, wherever they are. But you still kind of look back and wonder, you know, at a certain point in your life –– or often –– what that person’s up to and where they are now and what could have been, and what if, you know. It’s one of those kind of songs and [it invokes] the nostalgia of that.”
Sunday Drive marks Brett’s first new album in almost three years, since his eponymous third studio album was released in August of 2017. The project, which was recorded in Chicago, is available for pre-order via Brett’s website.
