Brett Eldredge Explains Why He Doesn’t Know How to Access His Own Phone

The less Brett Eldredge knows about his phone, the better –– at least, that’s what Brett says. The Illinois native previously did away with a smart phone, because it became too much of a distraction for him, but has since changed his tune, sort of. Instead, he has a passcode on his phone, but only his management knows it. In other words, Brett can’t unlock his phone unless someone else does it for him.

“I had him set a passcode and then they don’t tell me the passcode and I can’t get on it,” Brett told Taste of Country. “I recommend it to everybody. You get your sanity back. At first it’s weird, but then it works.”

Brett has been famously distancing himself from social media since early 2019, mostly as a means of self-preservation.

“I just wanted to take some time for myself,” Brett told SiriusXM’s Storme Warren. “I think it’s so easy to –– you get your record deal, you sign up for this beautiful dream of yours, and then you run so much on the road, and you’re gone for 250 days a year. You’re on to the next thing, the next thing, the next thing, and you don’t spend time on yourself. I got burned out a little bit. I needed to redirect and connect to myself.”

Brett has been using some of his allotted hour to FaceTime his family, especially while self-isolating due to the coronavirus pandemic, but he also has plenty of other things to keep him busy. The singer-songwriter just announced he will release his fourth studio album, Sunday Drive, on July 10. His current single, “Gabrielle,” from Sunday Drive, is already at radio.
