Brett Eldredge is back with a new single and the promise of a new album! The Illinois native just dropped “Gabrielle,” which is the debut single from his upcoming Sunday Drive album. The news comes after Brett intentionally disappeared for almost a year, not releasing music, performing many shows, or even staying very active on social media. For some, those decisions might have been a risky move, hinting towards a career lapse. For Brett, it was the only way he knew how to find himself again.
“I just wanted to take some time for myself,” Brett told SiriusXM’s Storme Warren. “I think it’s so easy to –– you get your record deal, you sign up for this beautiful dream of yours, and then you run so much on the road, and you’re gone for 250 days a year. You’re on to the next thing, the next thing, the next thing, and you don’t spend time on yourself. I got burned out a little bit. I needed to redirect and connect to myself.”
Brett announced in early 2019 that he was exchanging his smart phone for a flip phone, and taking an extended break from social media, both of which paid off in multiple ways, even though it was scary at first.
“I changed my relationship with social media,” Brett acknowledged. “I got a flip phone. I did all these things that just had no noise. No distraction, as little as possible, and I grew greatly from it. The music was just a game-changer for me. I grew up in making this album.”
“Gabrielle” is just one song on what Brett says is the most adult –– and honest –– album he has ever released.
“It took a lot of self-awareness to finally realize that if I do really have a lot more in me,” Brett shared at a recent online media event. “I’ve got to step up and I’ve got to take that step off the edge. And I think enough time of doing it the same way made me realize it’s time to do it big,”
Sunday Drive will be available on July 10. Download “Gabrielle” and pre-order Sunday Drive by visiting Brett’s website.
