Callista Clark and Scotty McCreery Drop ‘Gettin’ Old’ [LISTEN]

Callista Clark‘s new duet with Scotty McCreery is out! The two are part of a gorgeous collaboration, “Gettin’ Old,” which is available now.

McCreery hasn’t done many duets in his 13-year career, but he has been a longtime fan of Clark, ever since they toured overseas together, and quickly became an instant fan of the new song as soon as he heard it.

“I first met Callista on a UK tour we did together a few years ago,” McCreery said at a recent media event. “She was opening the shows for us. I was just blown away by her songwriting and her stage presence, and her voice is just ridiculous. The runs she can do, I think I would fall over if I tried to do what she does with her voice. She’s so talented and has something she wants to share with the world.

“So when she sent the song over, I fell in love with it, and was just honored that she wanted me to sing on it,” he added. “So I’m excited for folks to hear it. It’s a great song. She wrote one heck of a song, and I’m excited for people to hear it.”

When announcing the song, Clark said she knew right away that she wanted McCreery to join her on the heartbreaking ballad.

“Scotty was my first choice for a duet partner on ‘Gettin’ Old,’” Clark said. “I’ve always loved his voice and how he approaches his career. He absolutely nailed this song.”

McCreery might have been Clark’s first choice, but he didn’t need much persuading to sing with his friend on “Gettin’ Old.”

“I am so fired up to be on this song. Callista wrote a heck of a tune, and I am honored to sing on it with her,” McCreery added.

The American Idol alum’s latest Rise and Fall album is out now. The record includes his sixth No. 1 single, with Cab In A Solo,” plus his current hit single, “Fall of Summer.” For all of his successes, the 30-year-old is even more excited about his future, and what is still ahead for him.

“I feel much more like an old man than I do that kid nowadays,” McCreery told American Songwriter. “I was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and I didn’t know what the world had in store for me. At this point in my career, I’ve seen just about everything. You can easily get jaded, but for me, it’s like, ‘Now, I know what to expect.’ And it still excites me.”

McCreery, who became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in April, was recently announced as part of this year’s Opry Country Christmas celebration, along with Trace AdkinsJon PardiThe Oak Ridge BoysChris YoungChris Janson and Steven Curtis Chapman.
