Carly Pearce is staying in her hummingbird era a little bit longer. The Kentucky native just announced the release of the deluxe version of her hummingbird album. hummingbird: no rain, no flowers will be out on March 14. The record contains five new tracks, including “no rain” which is available now.
Hummingbird followed Pearce’s 29: Written in Stone, which was released in 2021.
“‘Hummingbird’ was my healing journey after ‘29,'” Pearce explains. “I felt like there were a few more songs to be shared before I close this chapter. ‘hummingbird: no rain, no flowers’ – the deluxe album – out March 14!! Pre-save now + hear my new song ‘no rain.'”
Hummingbird was released last June. The record includes her current Top 25 single, “Truck on Fire,” along with her “We Don’t Fight Anymore” duet with Chris Stapleton.
“hummingbird is a deeply personal journey filled with heart, soul, and a good dose of humor,” Pearce said when the record was released. “The process of creating this album was me reconstructing the way I see love and the way I see myself. From facing heartbreak, falling in love again, and gaining confidence, I’ve learned to embrace every part of my story.
“I hope this record resonates with anyone on a healing journey, showing that through vulnerability, self-discovery, and therapy, things can truly get better,” she continued. “It’s okay not to have everything figured out; happiness can be found in the process. I hope hummingbird resonates with everyone who listens and inspires you to find strength in your own journey.”
“Truck on Fire” was written by Pearce, along with Charles Kelley of Lady A and Justin Ebach.”
“It was so fun,” Pearce says of the writing session, while on Apple Music Country’s Today’s Country Radio. “I feel like sad songs and sass have always been two things that I’ve really gravitated towards and I got to really let loose on this album with that. I really wanted to write something that just gave girls an anthem to just feel powerful. And don’t we all have all these crazy dreams in our head of burning down the thing that said human that hurt us loves the most?”
Pearce openly admitted that 29: Written in Stone was about the end of her brief marriage to Michael Ray. But with hummingbird, Pearce was ready to launch a new musical chapter.
“These songs are not all reflective of that relationship,” Pearce told USA Today when the record was released. “I didn’t want to be defined by that because I have moved on. And you carry pieces of people and experiences with you, but I’m not defined by that. And I was scared because there’s so much weight that went with that, good and bad. And so it was like when I started writing, I felt like I had something to prove, that I was more than that.”
Pearce is currently overseas headlining her Hummingbird World Tour. See a track list for the deluxe album below. Find all of her music and upcoming shows, and pre-order hummingbird: no rain, no flowers at CarlyPearce.com.
