Carly Pearce Announces ‘Truck on Fire’ as Next Single

We now know what Carly Pearce‘s second single will be. The Grand Ole Opry  member announces that “Truck on Fire” will hit radio, as her second single from hummingbird. The song, written by Pearce, along with Charles Kelley and Justin Ebach, will officially be released on July 29.

“No one wants to be cheated on, but everyone wants to seek revenge,” Pearce says of the inspiraiton behind “Truck on Fire.” “I wrote this song for every girl who has gone through a similar situation and dreams of wreaking havoc on her ex. I got the opportunity to perform the song live while on tour with  Tim McGraw and the way the fans have embraced it has blown me away every single time. I couldn’t think of a better song to make my next single.”

Pearce recently opened up about “Truck on Fire,” and why she wanted to include it on hummingbird.

“Honestly, it’s like ‘This guy did this to me, and I took his truck and burned it down,'” Pearce explains to USA Today. “But, there is that sentiment that I think is in especially us ladies where, if you do us wrong, we want to seek revenge. And what is like the dream scenario to get rid of something? Carrie Underwood keyed the car. I’m burning the truck down. And I think maybe that’s just the Kentucky side of me coming out, for everybody.

“But it’s been fun to see the way that girls — it’s another form to me of giving girls an anthem of feeling strong,” she adds. “I think that’s become so much a part of who I am and my duty as an artist.”

The news of the new single comes as “We Don’t Fight Anymore,” Pearce’s debut from hummingbird, hit the Top 5. The song, a collaboration with  Chris Stapleton, is just part of a vulnerable and honest new album that Pearce was excited to share with her fans.

hummingbird is a deeply personal journey filled with heart, soul, and a good dose of humor,” Pearce said when the record was released. “The process of creating this album was me reconstructing the way I see love and the way I see myself. From facing heartbreak, falling in love again, and gaining confidence, I’ve learned to embrace every part of my story.

“I hope this record resonates with anyone on a healing journey, showing that through vulnerability, self-discovery, and therapy, things can truly get better,” she continued. “It’s okay not to have everything figured out; happiness can be found in the process. I hope hummingbird resonates with everyone who listens and inspires you to find strength in your own journey.”

hummingbird follows Pearce’s 29: Written in Stone album, out in 2021, and continues her journey of telling her truth in her music, as only she can.

“I am a normal girl,” Pearce told USA Today. “I want to share when I’m happy. I want to share when I’m excited. I know that somebody else is experiencing something that I am. And I think the ‘29’ season of my life really showed me that, even to a degree, that I had no idea there were so many young people that felt shame around divorce. But I almost feel like I’ve built my career on just being unapologetically honest about whatever I’m going through.”
