Carly Pearce is dropping more hints about her forthcoming new album. The Kentucky native says fans can expect news from her about her next set of tunes in the very, very near future.
“Weeks,” she tells Audacy‘s Katie Neal. “I don’t want to give anything away, but this is the most excited I’ve ever been to put out a song.”
Pearce, who teases that she might be “coming with a duet again,” adds that maybe she should, “call it a feature, not a duet,” adding that it’s not a female artist.
In a separate interview, Pearce says that, while this album will not be about heartbreak, like 29: Written in Stone, it won’t be filled with love songs like some might expect.
“I think a lot of people think that just because I’m happy [and in] a relationship that I’m just going to come out with a bunch of love songs and that’s just not my vibe… it’s not sunshine and rainbows,” Pearce says.
Pearce is currently nominated for three ACM Awards, for Female Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, for her “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” duet with Ashley McBryde, and Visual Media of the Year, for her “What He Didn’t Do” video.
“Every time something like that happens, [it’s] a flash of all of your dreams as a kid happening, so I feel really excited,” Pearce says, adding that the nominations were not expected.
“It was really special. I’m not in an album cycle right now,” she explains. “I’m at the end of it, and getting ready to come with a new one. Just to be recognized like that for two songs is so special.”
Pearce recently celebrated her 100th performance at the Grand Ole Opry, where she was joined by McBryde, Ricky Skaggs, Charles Kelley and Ben and Sonja Isaacs.
“I remember thinking that I was gonna throw up right before,” Pearce said from stage (via American Songwriter), speaking of her first Grand Ole Opry performance. “It was all of my dreams come true. The Opry was something, as a little girl growing up in Kentucky, that I always wanted. I equate it to your wedding day – it’s such a whirlwind.”
