Carly Pearce fans just got a holiday present! The Grand Ole Opry member dropped a surprise new song, “Mary, Did You Know?” Pearce announced the track on social media.
“Christmas came early y’all!” posted Pearce. “This will forever be one of my favorite Christmas songs. I had so much fun creating my own version.”
Pearce just wrapped up her run with Lady A, serving as direct support on their What A Song Can Do Tour. She will head out next week on her headlining The 29 Tour, in support of her 29: Written in Stone album, which was released in September. Pearce, who is also nominated for two CMA Awards, never could have predicted how much her life and career would change, for the better, following her divorce from Michael Ray.
“I think that those career highs are kind of what kept me going and kept me feeling like I could push through,” Pearce tells Fox News. “I don’t think it was a coincidence that all of the career stuff started happening for me. I think God works in mysterious ways like that. I think that He’s validating the kind of music that I was making and what I was writing about. It kind of was just an escape.”
Pearce is back at radio with “Never Wanted to Be That Girl,” a duet with Ashley McBryde. Pearce and McBryde wrote the song with Shane McAnally.
“‘Never Wanted To Be That Girl’ was exactly how ‘I Hope You’re Happy Now’ happened for me,” Pearce tells Everything Nash. “I played a show with Luke Combs and I wanted to write with Luke, so I asked him. I played a show with Ashley. I wanted to write a song with her, so I called her and asked her.”
The two will perform the song during the 2021 CMA Awards. The ceremony will air live from Nashville on Wednesday, November 10, at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
