Carly Pearce is honoring those working on the frontlines during the coronavirus pandemic with a new video of her song, “It Won’t Always Be Like This.” In the video, Carly and her band perform remotely, as photos of healthcare workers flash across the screen, along with other scenes showing the impact of COVID-19.
“The first chorus, my band goes in and out with photos across the country of really busy places, cities, subways, different venues where there’s nobody there anymore and it’s an eerie look,” Carly said, via Good Morning America. “And then the second chorus takes you and shows you a lot of really heavy moments for the health care workers and everybody in the hospitals on the frontlines of this.”
“It Won’t Always Be Like This” is from Carly’s self-titled sophomore album, released in February. The 30-year-old wrote the song with Sam Ellis and Natalie Hemby, never imagining how important the song would be right now.
“When I wrote this song, I knew that it was going to be a special one, but little did I know all of the ways it was to unveil its meaning even deeper,” Carly said in a statement. “A beautiful thing for me is seeing how we ALL can relate in some way right now. My band and I created a special video to hopefully give people peace and comfort through this very uncertain time. I hope everyone holds onto their faith and their loved ones a little tighter. Remember, it won’t always be like this.”
Carly is spending her time self-isolating in Alabama, to be closer to her mother, who has COPD. Tour updates have yet to be announced. Purchase Carly Pearce via Amazon or her website.
