Matthew West just released a new version of his hit single, “Truth Be Told,” this time with Carly Pearce.
“This song means so much to me and I love what Carly was able to bring to it,” West said on social media, speaking of Pearce’s contribution to the song.
Pearce also spoke out about “Truth Be Told,” and its significance, especially this year.
My faith has always been a huge part of my life. When @matthew_west asked me to be a part of "Truth Be Told," I knew it was God winking at me. Thank you Matthew for writing such an anthem and for allowing me to be a part of it! Listen & watch here: https://t.co/Vt2atES5Jl pic.twitter.com/v10N0BiBeE

“My faith has always been a huge part of my life,” Pearce shared. “When [Matthew West] asked me to be a part of ‘Truth Be Told,’ I knew it was God winking at me. Thank you Matthew for writing such an anthem and for allowing me to be a part of it!”
West was thrilled to have the country star join him on his compelling song.
“I’m honored to have Carly join me on this new version of ‘Truth Be Told,'” West said in a statement. “Since her first single, ‘Every Little Thing,’ I’ve been a huge fan. There’s an honesty in her voice that convinces you she’s not just singing, she’s feeling every word she’s singing. It was a special thing to hear that same honest vocal delivery brought to this song about being honest. I’m so excited for the world to hear this duet.”
Pearce, who has been open about her faith through the years, felt like joining West on “Truth Be Told” was a gift from God.
“My faith is such a huge part of my life,” added Pearce. “I’ve been praying for the right opportunity to show more of my heart, and ‘Truth Be Told’ felt meant to be. Not only am I such a fan of Matthew’s, this lyric has been the anthem of my life over the last year. Being transparent and vulnerable is how we connect with others. I’m so excited to be a part of this collaboration!”
West previously said he was inspired to write “Truth Be Told,” when he was tired of trying to pretend to be perfect.
“I wrote ‘Truth Be Told’ because I don’t want to be a professional Christian anymore,” West shared (via FreeCCM.com). “I wanna be the first person who says ‘You know what? I’ve got some messes and I’m going to dare to believe that there’s a God who loves me anyway. And I’m going to dare to believe that there’s some other Christians who would love me anyway even if they knew that I was less than perfect.’ So I’m putting it out there, truth be told and I hope you will too. Be honest, be vulnerable and trust that the Lord is never going to leave your side.”
Pearce has been very open about her Christian faith, but even more so within the last 18 months.
“God works all things together for good,’ Pearce recently shared with Everything Nash and other media outlets. “And I have seen that firsthand through my life in the last year and a half in ways that I probably won’t ever even know how to explain to you. I’ve always been a believer. Faith has always been a huge part of my life, but I feel like God, for whatever reason wanted to just see just how much I trust Him. And I really learned about faith through this time. I see the good.”
