A new song is here from Carly Pearce! The Kentucky native dropped “Country Music Made Me Do It,” from her forthcoming fourth studio album. The song follows her current Top 40 single, “We Don’t Fight Anymore,” with Chris Stapleton.
Pearce announced “Country Music Made Me Do It” earlier this week, while also announcing her own headlining Country Music Made Me Do It Tour.
“It’s been a crazy couple of years since I released 29 into the world, and I’m ready to begin this next chapter with you,” Pearce shared on social media. “I’m SO excited to bring the ‘Country Music Made Me Do It’ Tour to life this fall, to celebrate the true beginning of a turned page in my life, both musically and personally. My friends at [Conundrum Wines] are coming along for the ride & I have soooo many fun surprises up my sleeve.”
“I’ve been busy in the studio recording new music, and want to share a taste of that with you too,” she continued. “’Country Music Made Me Do It’ is the essence of this next chapter for me. I wrote this song as an autobiographical anthem, but I can’t wait to hear the ways YOUR story has been influenced by country music.”
“Country Music Made Me Do It” is part of Pearce’s goal, especially with her new record, to be defined as one of the pure country artists of this generation.
“I’m really excited about it,” Pearce told Everything Nash, speaking of her next project. “I write from where I am in my life. So I think that you’re gonna see this new season of life for me, and more confidence in the kind of country music that I make, and really just waving my flag in that.”
The Grand Ole Opry member is ready to move on from her 29: Written in Stone album, which included the Grammy-winning single, “Never Wanted To Be That Girl,” a duet with Ashley McBryde.
“I wrote 29 when I was 29,” Pearce told Audacy‘s US99. “I’m 33 now, so a lot has changed. I’m in a really good place. I think for the first couple of years, it felt very transitional, just kind of figuring out my way of life again, after a really hard time. But it’s really good. I’ve been writing a bunch, and I know that people are really excited, because obviously I have a new single.
“That means more stuff I’m really excited to get to share,” she continued. “I feel like nobody really knows what’s going on, really, so it’s fun. You are going to get to know what the last few years have been like for me.”
Pearce will serve as the opening act on Tim McGraw‘s 2024 Standing Room Only Tour next year, which begins on March 14 in Jacksonville, Florida, and wraps up on June 27 in Phoenix, Arizona. Tickets to the Country Music Made Me Do It Tour will be available beginning at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 11. All of Pearce’s music and upcoming shows can be found at CarlyPearce.com.
