Carly Pearce‘s hummingbird album is out. The 14-track record, her first since 29: Written in Stone was released in 2021, is more of Pearce’s full embrace of the kind of pure country music she wants to create.
“hummingbird is a deeply personal journey filled with heart, soul, and a good dose of humor,” says Pearce. “The process of creating this album was me reconstructing the way I see love and the way I see myself. From facing heartbreak, falling in love again, and gaining confidence, I’ve learned to embrace every part of my story.
“I hope this record resonates with anyone on a healing journey, showing that through vulnerability, self-discovery, and therapy, things can truly get better,” she continues. “It’s okay not to have everything figured out; happiness can be found in the process. I hope hummingbird resonates with everyone who listens and inspires you to find strength in your own journey.”
Much as with 29, Pearce shared the highs and lows of her life in the songs on hummingbird, unafraid to be vulnerable and open — and a bit sassy — with the songs on her new record.
“I am a normal girl,” Pearce explains to USA Today. “I want to share when I’m happy. I want to share when I’m excited. I know that somebody else is experiencing something that I am. And I think the ‘29’ season of my life really showed me that, even to a degree, that I had no idea there were so many young people that felt shame around divorce. But I almost feel like I’ve built my career on just being unapologetically honest about whatever I’m going through.”
Pearce recently offered a new update on her health, after revealing she was diagnosed with pericarditis, a swelling around the membrane of the heart,
“I’m okay,” Pearce told Entertainment Tonight. “It was pericarditis and a pericardial effusion, which is an inflammation and fluid inside the sac of your heart. And so I’m just kind of figuring it out as I go …I kind of have to make adjustments, just because my heart rate quite literally cannot get above a certain point.”
