Carrie Underwood‘s Thanksgiving plans might change from year to year, but one thing that remains consistent is her love of eating on the holiday. Fortunately, because of her husband Mike Fisher, she gets to celebrate the delicious holiday twice!
“We don’t have too many set-in-stone Thanksgiving traditions,” Underwood shares with her record label. “I find myself a lot of times working on or around Thanksgiving or unable to get home or whatever. We try to be together, but sometimes that just doesn’t work out. But I think it’s just about … we eat.
“I eat a lot every year on Thanksgiving,” she adds with a laugh. “I never skip THAT tradition. But that’s the gist of it, and I’m kind of lucky. I get two Thanksgivings, because I also get to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with my husband’s family, so if I don’t hit one, I’ll definitely be able to get the other one.”
Underwood has plenty to be thankful for this year, including her headlining The Denim & Rhinestones Tour, which launched earlier this year and will continue into 2023. Jimmie Allen is serving as Underwood’s opening act for all dates.
“There’s a lot of things we’re doing that we haven’t done before,” Underwood hinted to Audacy’s Katie & Company. “I feel like we’re in such a good creative space… I feel like everybody has really just upped their game. We’ve been rehearsing lately and kind of adding new flavors to songs we’ve been playing for a really long time. Just kind of keeping things fresh and exciting.”
The mother of two also shows off her aerial skills during her show, borrowing a skill set she learned while performing for her Reflection Las Vegas residency.
“It was my idea,” Underwood revealed Lon Helton’s Country Countdown USA. “I’m the one who put myself in the air. We had my show in Vegas, and we had aerialists. I would watch them every night, and it looked like a challenge. So for this song, the reason I wanted this as the first single was because I could do a lot with it and I want to fly. I’m not a daredevil, but I like to push myself. Sometimes that involves a little danger. Why not? You only live once.”
Underwood’s current tour is in support of Underwood’s Denim & Rhinestones album. She is back at radio with “Hate My Heart,” following her hit single, “Ghost Story.” Find all of Underwood’s music and tour dates by visiting her website.
