Carrie Underwood Confirms Performance at Trump Inauguration

Carrie Underwood confirms she will sing at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. The 41-year-old speaks out about her performance, after multiple outlets reported she was singing “America the Beautiful” during his inauguration ceremony.

“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood tells People. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

Underwood has not publicly endorsed a Presidential candidate like some of her peers. She has, however, been a voice of reason, regardless of political divisiveness.

“I feel like more people try to pin me places politically,” Underwood previously told The Guardian. “I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins. It’s crazy. Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it, like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that.”

At the last Presidential inauguration, for President Joe Biden, Garth Brooks was one of the performers, although he said his appearance was not at all an indication of his political beliefs.

“I’ve played for every President there is, since Carter, with the exception of Reagan,” Brooks, who also played as part of President Barack Obama’s 2008 inauguration, said at the time (via Entertainment Tonight). “This is an honor for me to get to serve… and it’s one of the things that, if my family is around, no matter who the President-elect is, it’s an honor to be asked.”

Tim McGraw and Tyler Hubbard also performed four years ago, along with Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and more.

Underwood also has a hit at radio with “I’m Gonna Love You,” her duet with Cody Johnson. Music and tour updates can be found at CarrieUnderwoodOfficial.com.

Lee Greenwood is reportedly also performing.  Trump’s inauguration ceremony is slated to begin at 11:00 AM ET. The entire event will stream live on ABC, CBS, CNN, CSPAN, Fox News, MSNBC, NBC and PBS.
