The 40-year-old has a Top 25 hit at radio right now with “Hate My Heart.” The song is from her 2022 Denim & Rhinestones album.
“‘Hate My Heart’ was definitely part of my desire to have fun on this album,” Underwood said of the song. “I wanted songs that would be exciting to perform live and would fill up an arena. … It was great writing ‘Hate My Heart’ with Hillary Lindsey and David Garcia, who I love collaborating with, and also getting to work with HARDY, who brought a cool vibe and an energy to the track.”
Denim & Rhinestones might have just been released last year, but Underwood is already working on a new record. She recently teased the project by dropping “Out Of That Truck,” which she penned with Lydia Vaughn and Garcia.
“It was like having this memory, nostalgic kind of song where it’s like, you can’t get over somebody, but it’s because of all the physical marks that you left in the space, that you left in a space, a truck,” Underwood explained. “Nail polish on the tailgate, dings on the door.”
Underwood is nominated for one ACM Award, for Entertainer of the Year, a category she shares with Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton and Morgan Wallen.
Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton will host the ACM Awards ceremony. The 2023 ACM Awards will take place on Thursday, May 11 at 8:00 PM ET, streaming live on Amazon Prime Video, from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. A limited number of tickets are available at SeatGeek.com
