Carrie Underwood Reportedly to Perform at Trump Inauguration

Carrie Underwood is reportedly performing at the upcoming inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance on January 20. Multiple outlets are reporting that Underwood will sing “America the Beautiful” at the inauguration, joined by the Armed Forces Choir and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.

The Associated Press adds that Lee Greenwood will also perform. along with opera singer Christopher Macchio.

Although Underwood has yet to confirm her performance, she has largely stayed quiet about her political beliefs, wanting fans instead to focus on her music.

“I feel like more people try to pin me places politically,” Underwood previously told The Guardian. “I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins. It’s crazy. Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it, like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that.”

Underwood’s performance will be part of a lengthy list of artists who have performed at a presidential inauguration, including Garth Brooks, Toby Keith and Big & Rich, among others.

The Presidential performance comes at the beginning of what is shaping up to be a big year for Underwood. In addition to working on new music, the 41-year-old is also returning to  American Idol, this time as a judge, 20 years after being crowned the Season 4 winner.

“it feels like home,” Underwood tells Good Morning America. “There are so many people that even still work on the show that were there when I was a contestant. And I feel like being on both sides of the coin, I’ll be able to hopefully offer some insight and help and kind of offer a different viewpoint.”

Underwood will soon also have her own special on Hulu. After announcing the end of her REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency, Underwood reveals that Carrie Underwood: Reflection will stream on Hulu beginning on January 24.

“I feel like it would’ve been a real shame if it just lived on in people’s memories,” Underwood says. “People can re-live those moments and get to watch them and experience them and maybe see things they missed when they came out.”

“I love that my kids are gonna get to watch it someday when they’re a little bit older and be like, ‘Oh my gosh mom. I can’t believe you did that,’” she adds. “I just love that it’s gonna get to live on.”

Underwood also has a hit at radio with “I’m Gonna Love You,” her duet with Cody Johnson. Music and tour updates can be found at CarrieUnderwoodOfficial.com.

Trump’s inauguration ceremony is slated to begin at 11:00 AM ET. The entire event will stream live on ABC, CBS, CNN, CSPAN, Fox News, MSNBC, NBC and PBS.
