Carrie Underwood Shares Her Reason for Launching ‘Savior Sunday Daily’

Carrie Underwood is opening up about her new SiriusXM channel, Savior Sunday Daily. The faith-based station, available on the SiriusXM app, is an extension of Underwood’s Savior Sunday programming, available on Sundays on her Carrie’s Country channel.

“I feel like people my age and older really did grow up singing hymns,” Underwood explains. “We go to church now, and everything is very praise and worship, which is wonderful, but I feel like there are a lot of people who have not experienced a lot of these hymns, or they’re not a part of their weekly life. So, i hope people that are like me, that grew up with them, can listen to them and feel the heart behind them. We wanted to make them sound fresh, but we didn’t want to change anything too much.

“So, I hope the traditionalists will enjoy it, but I also hope that people who haven’t experienced these songs as much can listen and feel, get that sense of home but enjoy what they’re listening to as well,” she adds.

When announcing Savior Sunday Daily, the 41-year-old said that the songs on the channel were an extension of who Underwood is, and the music she listens to and enjoys.

“This music shaped who I am as a person and is the foundation of my career as a recording artist,” Underwood said at the time. “I feel so blessed to be able to create a destination to share these songs with generations of people who love them as I do, as well as others who might be experiencing them for the first time.”

Underwood also explained her decision to launch Savior Sunday Daily on social media.

“I love that country music is tied to faith music,” Underwood said. “We’re just real people, just like everybody out there listening. And we’re family people. We’re hard-working people. But we also like to sing songs to God sometimes. And hopefully, everybody out there listening can just relate.”

Underwood has always been vocal about her faith, releasing songs like “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “Something in the Water” and more. She also released the gospel album, My Savior, in 2021.

I feel like the answer to all of our problems is Jesus,” Underwood told Grammy.com. “it’s not a secret where I stand. And this has been good for my soul. I feel like hopefully when people listen to it, it’ll inspire. It’ll bring some peace, and hopefully some good, positive feelings.
