Carrie Underwood sang through several of her hits as part of her performance headlining Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2025. The mother of two performed “Church Bells,” “Pink Champagne” and “Before He Cheats,” to help ring in the new year.
Underwood was part of a star-studded show which also included performances by Blake Shelton, HARDY, Ernest, Megan Moroney, the Jonas Brothers and more.
Ahead of her performance, Underwood reflected on how it felt to be on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve for the third time, this time ahead of her first season as a judge on American Idol.
“I have such fun memories of performing on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Times Square in both 2007 and 2015, and I’m so excited to perform just before the ball drops again this year,” Underwood said at the time. “I’m thrilled to celebrate 20 years since winning American Idol by joining Ryan as he hosts his 20th New Year’s Eve in Times Square.”
While speaking with Seacrest on New Year’s Eve, the 41-year-old admitted she had some anxiety heading into the upcoming season of American Idol, this time on the other side of the judging table.
“Nerves with both,” Underwood conceded. “One I was living out my dream, just hoping for anything, just a fraction of this right here. And now I get to be on the other side of it, and I’m still nervous. I’m nervous for them, and I’m also really excited.”
When Underwood was announced as the third judge on American Idol, filling the spot left vacant when Katy Perry exited after last season, she said it in many ways felt like a reunion for her.
“it feels like home,” Underwood told Good Morning America. “There are so many people that even still work on the show that were there when I was a contestant. And I feel like being on both sides of the coin, I’ll be able to hopefully offer some insight and help and kind of offer a different viewpoint.”
Perhaps because of her role on American Idol, Underwood is wrapping up her REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency in 2025.
“I feel like there was so much love and work and excitement that was poured into this show,” Underwood told ABC. “For me, I feel this will live in my mind as one of the greatest shows we’ve ever put together, if not the greatest show we’ve put together.”
Fans who were unable to see Underwood in Las Vegas, or want to relive the magic, can enjoy her entire show with her upcoming Carrie Underwood: Reflection TV special, premiering on January 24 on Hulu.
“I feel like it would’ve been a real shame if it just lived on in people’s memories,” the Grand Ole Opry member said. “People can re-live those moments and get to watch them and experience them and maybe see things they missed when they came out.”
“I love that my kids are gonna get to watch it someday when they’re a little bit older and be like, ‘Oh my gosh mom. I can’t believe you did that,’” she added. “I just love that it’s gonna get to live on.”
