Carrie Underwood Wants to Be at the Top of Her Game for Upcoming Tour

Carrie Underwood will embark on her The Denim & Rhinestones Tour in October, joined by Jimmie Allen as her opening act. Already known for her theatrical shows, the new tour marks Underwood’s first since her 2019 Cry Pretty Tour, and she vows to make this one her best yet.

“There’s so much work that goes into putting on a tour,” Underwood tells UMG Nashville. “Obviously, putting the stage design, set design, all the production, lighting, all of that stuff. There’s tons of things to look through, videos to look through, and approving things and making sure each song will be looking like how they sound.”

The 39-year-old not only wants to make sure her set and design is the best it can be, but she also wants to make sure she is giving the best version of herself to her fans as well.

“And then for me, I want to make sure I’m at the top of my game, so definitely want to up the cardio and workouts and things like that, wardrobe, all of those things,” Underwood adds. “There’s a lot that goes into putting it all together, and we are well on our way.”

The Denim & Rhinestones Tour is in support of Underwood’s latest Denim & Rhinestones album, released in June.

“When I walked in to start making this album, it was like, ‘What do you want to do?’ My co-producer and co-writer, David Garcia, was like, ‘What do you want to do?” Underwood recalled on Apple Music Country’s Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen. “And I was like, ‘I just want to have fun.’ I feel like it’s needed. And we also spent two albums worth – we had our Christmas album, My Gift, the gospel album, My Savior, and it was in such a soulful place. And after that, I was just like, ‘I just want to have fun.’”

Even when making Denim & Rhinestones, the Grand Ole Opry member was already thinking about what it would be like to perform the songs on tour.

“I want to think about going out on the road,” Underwood said of her inspiration for the songs on the record. “I want to think about being on tour. I want to think about being with people again and how these songs are going to translate in front of people. So that’s what we did. We didn’t think about it too much. We made music that really felt good.”

Underwood currently has a Top 15 hit with “Ghost Story,” the debut single from Denim & Rhinestones. The Denim & Rhinestones Tour kicks off on October 15 in Greenville, South Carolina.  Find music and tour dates at CarrieUnderwoodOfficial.com.
