Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw, Travis Tritt and More Share Touching Tributes to Charlie Daniels

Charlie Daniels passed away on Monday, July 6, at 83 years of age, after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. The singer and songwriter was a member was a member of both the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame, and left an indelible mark on country music. Numerous artists, including Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw and Travis Tritt, shared touching tributes to the country music legend.

“I’m sad for the world and for his family…but I’m smiling a little because the angel band in Heaven just got themselves one heck of a fiddle player,” Carrie posted. “See you again, one day, sweet Charlie Daniels.”

“Oh man, sad to hear about [Charlie Daniels] passing,” Tim tweeted. “I grew up on his music… brilliant songs and smokin’ records. And always, without fail, every time I had the pleasure of being around him, he was one of most genuine, kind and thoughtful folks I’ve ever run across.”

“My heart is crushed today after hearing that my dear friend Charlie Daniels has passed away,” Travis wrote. “Charlie was the first legendary artist to take me under his wing and encourage me when I was first getting started in the business. He was always there for me when I needed him. I have so many great memories of touring, performing, writing and recording with Charlie, but my favorite memories are of simply talking with the man when it was just the two of us alone. John also issued a statement on the death of the country music icon, saying, “Daniels showed the rest of us what it means to be a great human being. He found redemption, then lived a life devoted to serving God, his family, and fellow countrymen. He was much more than his music. He was kind and strong and had a powerful soul that will be sorely missed here on earth, but no doubt has received eternal glory in Heaven. We will always love and miss him forever. God bless you, Mr. Charlie.”

He beat the devil with his fiddle, and I’m sure he’s opening up his case and resining up his bow now to play for the Lord. Rest In Peace my friend. We love you.”

Charlie is survived by his wife, Hazel, and son, Charlie Daniels, Jr. Funeral services are pending.
