Chris Young Celebrates ‘New Chapter’ After Release of Latest Album

Chris Young has never been more excited about his career than he is right now. The Grand Ole Opry member released his latest Young Love & Saturday Nights album in March, part of a promising year for Young, in every way.

“So this really and truly is a new chapter for me professionally, physically, mentally,” Young says in a video shared on social media. “All of the things that I’ve sort of put work into this year are going to reap benefits for years to come, but especially right now for me. It just allows me to lock it in even more, whether it’s live shows, whether it’s the studio.

“I feel like I’m sort of in a new season of life,” he adds. “Every album’s a snapshot of where you are in that particular moment, so I think this one’s going to be really, really important for me.”

When releasing Young Love & Saturday Nights, Young hinted that the record, his ninth, was a labor of love for him and a fitting benchmark for a career that has already spanned almost 20 years.

“I wanted this album to be special. I had a lot of time to work on this record, even though patience is not my strong suit,” Young shared during a recent media event. “I decided, ‘Hey, let’s change things up a little bit.’ There are songs on here that I didn’t write. There are songs on here that I co-wrote. There are songs that I produced by myself. There are songs I produced with my friends. And I really was just trying to find a lot of things that I wanted to say.”

The debut single and title track from his latest record is in the Top 10 now. The song, one of only three that the Tennessee native didn’t write, was the perfect addition to Young’s lates tproject.

“‘Young Love & Saturday Nights’ is a song that just kind of fell in my lap, so to speak,” Young told his record label. “We were having some meetings, people were cycling in and out of the Sony building playing songs for the record. Obviously, I write most of my stuff, but not all. You look at the history of my music, you’ll find a lot of songs that have gone No. 1, and been huge hits for me that I didn’t write as well as the ones I did. And this is one that I definitely wish I had written. I just fell in love with it from first listen; obviously a summer vibe behind this one.”

Young will headline the annual Let Freedom Sing! Music City July 4th celebration in Nashville, Tennessee, He will be joined by Blessing Offor, Yola and Girl Named Tom.and more, plus the Nashville Symphony. More information on the Let Freedom Sing! event is available at VisitMusicCity.com.
